Dewey is the son of Charles Francis and Euretta (Rettie) Alice Starnes Ash. Dewey took a fall and seriously injured his stomach and liver, probably perforating these organs, which caused peritonitis resulting in his death. According to his obituary and death record, he is buried at Liberty Cemetery at Norman.
