Bessie Chipman
Bessie Louise Chipman, 87, of Rising Sun, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at The Waters of Dillsboro.
She was born March 16, 1920, in Moorefield, the daughter of William and Mary Washer Brandon. She was a homemaker and retired in 1982 as a distillery worker from Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rising Sun.
She is survived by two sons, William Louis Chipman of Aberdeen and Buford Wayne Chipman of Aurora; eight grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Chipman, whom she married Aug. 22, 1936, and who died Sept. 7, 1985; her parents; and nine siblings.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Burial will be in Rising Sun New Cemetery in Rising Sun.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
