ROBERT ARTHUR AREHART July 23, 1929 – August 10, 2017 “Bob” was born on July 23, 1929 in Ashtabula, OH. He died on August 10, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. He lived for varying periods of time in Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania from childhood through high school. He spent the greatest amount of time in Pittsburg, PA. In 1952 Bob graduated from the Ray Vogue School of Art with a degree in Interior Design. Then the Army called him to service for the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. After his return he had a 42 year stellar career in Interior Design in Indianapolis, IN. During that career he worked for L. S. Ayres, a locally owned department store, Reifer’s Brothers Furniture Store, and his own firm, Arehart Interiors. Bob was a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and after serving in many capacities locally, statewide, and nationally, he was awarded the distinct honor of being a Fellow Member. (FASID). Bob was also awarded Sagamore of the Wabash by then Gov. Otis Bowen for his work on re-decorating the Governor’s Mansion in Indianapolis. This is the highest award in Indiana that a governor can bestow. In 1992 Bob and Jim Buchanan moved to Sedona where they operated a store at Tlaquepaque for three years. Bob then worked at Southwest Inn as concierge for 5 years, The Brewery at Tlaquepaque for 5 years as host, and he volunteered tirelessly at the Sedona Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center for more than 20 years. Bob is survived by life partner of 39 years, Jim Buchanan; nieces Beth Edgecomb of Dallas, TX; Lori Gammon of Tacoma, WA; Cheryl McMullin of Lawrenceburg, IN; Joni Harvey of Anderson, IN; and nephew Randy Arehart of Medina, OH. A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Saturday August 19th at 2:00 pm.
