She was born Nov. 28, 1950, in El Dorado, the daughter of Teddy Russell and Helen Eckstein Riggs. The family moved to Washington state, where she graduated from high school. She returned to El Dorado around 1967. She was united in marriage to Mike Ferguson in Augusta. For a number of years, she worked for Beech Aircraft and Raytheon as an electrical technician and crew chief. She retired in 2001 because of declining health. She loved working with flowers, crafts and ceramics.
She is survived by her husband, Mike, of the home; her son Troy and her mother Helen Knott, both of El Dorado; two brothers, Lyle Riggs of Madison, Kan., and Pat Riggs of Augusta; two sisters, Mary Snyder of El Dorado and Janie Lambert of Bellingham, Wash. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.
A memorial has been established with the Salvation Army. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with these arrangements. (El Dorado Times, September 28, 2004)
