Donald L. Bess, 58, of 840 Neunert Road died Thursday, December 4, 1997, in an automobile accident in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
Mr. Bess was a farmer and partner with his brother, Thomas Bess, in Bess Farms.
He was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau and sat on the board of directors of Magna Bank in Murphysboro. He was a veteran of the Missouri Army National Guard.
He was born June 17, 1939, in El Paso, Texas, to Donald Leman Bess Sr. and Arlene (Harbin) Bess.
He married Patricia Middleton on May 17, 1962. She was killed in the accident with him.
Survivors include on son, Richard Allen Bess of Gorham; two daughters, Jamie Dawn Taylor of Murphysboro and Rebecca Bess of Gorham; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas L. and Doris Bess of Ava; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Katie Taylor of Murphysboro.
His parents preceded him in death.
