"The heart-felt sympathy of all our people goes out to Mr. & Mrs. A.A. Connelly, of Morganton, in the death of their little daughter Gertrude, aged five years, which ocurred Tuesday night at midnight. It was a great shock to the family and friends, as the little one had been sick only a short time. Pneumonia was the cause of her death. Gertrude was a bright, loveable child who will be greatly missed from the home circle. The body was tenderly laid to rest in Forest Hill cemetery yesterday afternoon, Rev. W.F. Womble conducting the services."
