Helen was born in Charlotte North Carolina to Carey Carson Duncan and Janie Young Orders Duncan.
On Dec 1 1929 Helen lost of her Mother. At the age of 10 Helen help raise her brother Carey "CC" Duncan and two sisters Evelyn and Janie.

After high school Helen attended Marysville College in Tennessee and Graduated from Queens College in Charlotte.
Helen then moved to New York to attend the School of Fine Arts and Design Institute to study clothing design.
After WWII Helen became one of the first women from Charlotte to she served in the US Army Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and Women's Army Corp. Were she became a Tec 4 Sargent. Suring her time in the Army she was in charge running of the car pool at Ft Sills.
There she met her husband to-be an Army private who just returned from serving in the Pacific Theatre fighting though out Austria, Ray Williams. Helen and Ray were married at the Ft Sills Chapel on Mar 31 1945.
After they were discharged from the Army the young married couple moved to Klamath Falls Oregon.
Helen and Ray had a daughter Janie while living in Klamath Falls. After a short time Helen and Ray moved to Monmouth Oregon and entered Oregon College of Education (Northwestern). While going to school and raising a young daughter the couple had another daughter Stephanie. Helen and Ray would both receive their BA in teaching. After graduation they moved to Portland area and taught, before moving Manzanita Oregon. There they had a son Chet.

In 1952 the couple moved to Forest Grove. Helen taught at Dilley Grade Scholl, substituted at Harvey Clark Elementary school in Forest Grove
From 1957 until health forced her to retired in 1979 she taught at Banks Elementary school. Everyone who drove or walked by the school knew of the room on the corner of this school. This was Helen's room there she would have hanging children's art work.

Helen would leave behind Husband Ray, Daughters Stephanie (Jim) Wray, Janie and son Chet (Deb), 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
