Earl Dahlke, 87-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Hillman, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman, MN with Pastor Stephen Olson officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hillman. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Military Rites will be provided by the Hillman American Legion Post #602. Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Earl Daniel Dahlke was born November 26, 1931 in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, MN to the late Alfred and Selma (Bergs) Dahlke. When he was 14, he moved with his family to rural Hillman. In March 1954, he went into the Army, spending nearly a year in Greenland serving as a crane operator. He then moved to Minneapolis where he worked until September 1, 1957. Earl married Janice West on May 4, 1957 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman, MN. On September 1st they moved back to Hillman and took over the family dairy farm, where they raised their four children. He served on the Immanuel Lutheran Church council for many years and he also served on District 125’s school board. He was a member of the American Legion for 45 years and was a charter member of the Hillman Swamp Stompers snowmobile club. Earl enjoyed raising his crops, deer hunting, snowmobiling, camping with family and friends, and participating in Tractor Pulls, where he collected several first and second place trophies. He especially enjoyed a 2016 trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota with Janice and their children. Earl is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Greg (Char) Dahlke of Champlin, MN, Cheryl Wasson of Rochester, MN, Steve (Teri) Dahlke of Minnetonka, MN and Karen Hutchins of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Nick and Chris Dahlke, Lisa and Krista Dahlke, Miranda (Ian) Eisenschenk; great-granddaughters, Katelynn and Emma; sisters, Ethel Bauer of Gaylord, MN and Helen (Norman) Zabloski of Foley, MN; brother, Darvin (Janet) Dahlke of Hillman and Gold Canyon, AZ; sister-in-law, Clarice Dahlke of Deerwood, MN and many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Selma Dahlke; brother Kermit Dahlke; great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Katie and brother-in-law, Frederick Bauer.
