Willis Elmer “Junior” Bowman, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2019.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret Pike Bowman, his parents, Willis Elmer & Eunice Bowman and his brother, James Boyd Bowman.

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Clara) Bowman, Deborah (David) Castillo, and Darrell (Cheryl) Bowman; his grandchildren, Michael and Jeffery Bowman, Jamie Saunders, Christy Oxendine and Ryan Hoover.

Junior was born June 1, 1936 in Liberty and married his love in 1955. He had three children before completing his family with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He worked as a long haul truck driver for Cone Mills and as a car salesman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and skiing for days on Lake Tillery. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan. After retirement, he loved to maintain his lawns with his John Deere. He will be fondly remembered for his optimism, sense of humor and his ability to never meet a stranger.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. His funeral service will be held at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Following the service, burial will be at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

Contributions can be made to the Almost Home Group, Thomasville, NC, with a mission is love and individualized care or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
