Joshua Spencer, possibly the oldest pioneer in this county, died at the home of his son, Homer, seven miles north of this village at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening, November 6, 1925, after an illness of two days from heart trouble, aged 90 years, 3 mouths and 17 days.

Mr. Spencer was a man of unusual health for his advanced years and had worked some daily up to the time of his brief illness.

Deceased was born in Canada July 20, 1835, and came to Michigan with his parents who settled at Lexington, who crossed St. Clair river on the ice February 22, 1846.

He grew to manhood under pioneer conditions, worked by the month and saved money enough to buy 160 acres of land of the government and made his home on that farm, 3 1/2 miles north and 1/2 mile east of this place.

He was married to Miss Emily Frasier, who preceded him in death July 3, 1889 [1890].

He is survived by two sons, Homer, at whose home his death occurred, and Elmer, of Argyle; and one daughter, Mrs. Benjamin Wortley, of Deckerville.

Mr. Spencer was well known to the people of his generation and well respected.

Funeral services were held from the home at one o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Latham, Seventh Day Advent minister of Sandusky, officiating. Burial was in Wright cemetery.
