Ken Moe, died on January 18, 2019 as a result of an auto accident in Fraser, Michigan. He was 68 years old.

Kenneth Alvin Moe was born at Brookings, SD on March 23, 1950 to Alvin and Evelyn (Olson) Moe. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. He attended Bangor #3 country school throught the 5th grade and then attended Arlington Public School, graduating in 1968. He then attended University Trade School in Omaha, NE, graduating in 1969.

In the early 70's, he took a road trip with his cousin, John Lowe to California, Ken liked the area and decided to return there to find work. He got a job at Goodyear Tire where he did track testing for NASCAR racing tires. It was there he had a chance meeting with Jack Roush of Gap & Roush Pro Stock Ford Racing from Michigan. Ken went to be a part of a Ford drag racing team. So he moved to Michigan, walked into Gap & Roush Racing headquarter and said "I'm here for a job, I will work for one week for free and if you don't like my work I will go back home." He was hired and it was there he fulfilled his dream of working for a Pro Stock Ford racing team. He remained there for several years and later started his own business in Michigan building high preformance Ford motors. He was given the nickname "Moe-tors".

In the 80's, he moved his engine building business back to South Dakota where he owned and operated The Pit Stop in Valley Springs. In 2017, in his semi-retired years. he moved back to his beloved Michigan where he could reiminisce about his younger years drag racing down Woodward Blvd. in Detroit and once again be back in the heart of high performance racing. Throughout his life, he had been writing a book about engine building and at the time of his death he had 27 chapters written with only three chapters left unfinished.

His passions throughout his life were Fords, racing, music and he had a great live of animals. He loved Karaoke and was a gifted singer. He loved his God and country.

He is survived by his sister; Carol (Charles) Severson of Arlington, Washington; niece Jennifer (Jason) Burton and great nephews; Logan and Drew Burton of Marysville, Washington, nephew, Michael (Shelly) Severson of Arlington, Washington. Several relatives and friends, including long time friends, John and Elaine Vermeerseh of Michigan, Sharen Burckhard of Brandon, SD and Jerry Gossel of Colorado. Special mention of cousin John Lowe of Madison, SD who was like a brother and life long best friend and cousin Rick Olson who shared Ken's passion for racing with him.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, John and Ida Teressa Olson, paternal grandparents, Herman and Lena Moe and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
