Long Branch Woman Victim of Pneumonia in 71st Year.
Mrs. Alfred Howland of Long Branch died last Wednesday of pneumonia. She had been in poor health for several months and was stricken with the disease which caused her death last Thursday week. Mrs. Howland was seventy years old and was a sister of James Layton, chief of police of Long Branch. She was born in Howell Township and had lived at Long Branch about fifty years. She leaves six children.
Her father a Monmouth County Native was James Wall Layton who was born in 1800 and died in 1870. Her mother Charlotte Ayres also a native of the area was born in 1805 and died in 1860.
