Agnes Helms Lanning, age 93, of Old Fort, passed away, Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center.

Agnes was born in Monroe, NC on February 24, 1926 to the late Edward and Fronie Eudy Helms.

A member of Catawba Falls Baptist Church in Old Fort, she will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

Ollis Lanning was her husband of 54 years and passed away in 2003.

She leaves behind five children, Richard Lanning (Linda) of Mills River, Ann White (Jack) of Springfield, IL, Mary Jordan (Les) of Arden, David Lanning (Jane) of Old Fort and Martha Pritchard (A.D.) of Marion; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

A funeral service will take place at Catawba Falls Baptist Church on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Phillip Wishon, Sr. will preside over the services. The family will be available to receive friends at the church prior to the service between 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Park where Agnes will be laid to rest beside her beloved Ollis.
