This was filed with the above papers, presumably for the purpose of establishing the death of Thomas W. Tanner. The envelope is return addressed Bedford Ky, Oct 17th. and addressed to Mrs. Elizabether Tanner Golconda Illinois.
"Octtober the 14th 1843
"Dear Sister this day I have to record the deather of your husband and my brother. He came to Anderson Laws on Satyday last somewhat unwell and concluded that he would take some physic and done so but did not think that he was able to travel and he continued so till thirsday morning he thin sint for doctor but didnot get one till in the evening the doctor done all he could but to no effect he died about nine oclock on the 12th and they sint for me on friday and he was buried decently at Wm Garretts on the river his clothes is at Laws which will be sint down the first opertunity being in haste I cannot rite much Our own family is sick you had better send up for his clothes or wait till we can send them down his shrowd cost 75 cts his coffin and doctors bill will be to pay for you had better send twelve or fifteen dollars if you can which will pay all charges oh sister do not grieve but prepare to meet us all in heavn fairwell at present
