Hundreds of Friends Attend Anderson Rite

A. G. Anderson, Veteran City Official, Is Laid to Rest in Winthrop Cemetery

Sorrowing relatives and friends from many communities in Minnesota, together with others from near-by states were present yesterday to pay their respects to Andrew G. Anderson, superintendent of St. Peter's city power plant, whose tragic death took place early Monday forenoon. Following a brief prayer service at the Anderson home at 1:30 o'clock, the funeral cortege wended its way to the english Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Anderson was a member, where the pastor, Rev. C.J. Karl, conducted a memorial service for the departed official. Numerous floral offerings, as well as the large attendance present from both local and outside points, attested the esteem of friends and relatives and the deep sympathy that is universally felt for his breaved family.

Musical numbers featured in services included two vocal duets sung by Mesdames Otto R. Maves and Alfred Bolstad, with Miss Minnie Spiess presiding at the instrument. The numbers were "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Softly and Tenderly, Jesus Is Calling." Pallbearers chosen by the family were: C.A. Brandt, Otto R. Maves, Henry N. Benson, N.P. Nelson, Marshall E. Stone and Adolph Mollert. Following the services, the body of the deceased was conveyed to Winthrop to be interred in the community cemetery, where his parents were buried.

In addition to the large numbers present from the local and near-by communities both relatives and friends were here for the funeral from more remote points in and out of the state. Brothers of the deceased and members of their familes here were: Mr. and Mrs. John S. Anderson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Anderson of Robbinsdale, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Emil N. Anderson, Chicago. Mrs. William Anderson, wife of a deceased brother, was present with her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Anderson from Winthrop. Families present, including sisters of Mr. Anderson, were Mr. and Mrs. August Eckberg and Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Larson, Winthrop; Prof. and Mrs. J.G. Lundholm, Minneapolis; Mrs. R.O. Benell, Moose Jaw, Sask.

Sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, all of whom wre in the city shortly following notice of their father's death are: Fred S. Anderson, present with wife and son, Leland Fred, from Chicago; Ansel G. Anderson, present with Mrs. Anderson from Chicago; Donald J., college student, residing at home; Ruth, Mrs. Gerald Laumann, with her husband, local residents in St. Peter; Helen, Mrs. C. Gustafson, from Brainerd.

Still others made the trip to the city to be present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Gustafson and daughters, Ruth and Myrtle, parents and sisters of Dr. Gustafson at Brainerd; mr. and Mrs. C.W. Heimann and daughter, Ester, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olsen, Fairfax; Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Anderson, New Ulm; Mr. John W. Jackson, a brother of Mrs. Anderson, Fargo, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. George Honeywell, Iowa City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hinquist and Mrs. Alvin Johnson, Bernadotte; Mr. and Mrs. Emery Anderson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nordgaard, North Mankato.
