Arthur E. "Gene" Dickey, 71, a resident of Stewarts Creek Road, Kelso, and a retired farmer and substitute mail carrier, died Thursday (June 9, 1994) at Lincoln Regional Hospital.
A native of Lincoln County and son of the late Asa Edward and Ethel Gray Dickey, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert A. Dickey and Garland Dickey.
Mr. Dickey is survived by his wife, Lena Porter Dickey; a daughter, Deborah Dickey Broadway of Fayetteville; two sons, Edward Donald Dickey of Fayetteville and Daniel Eugene Dickey of Dickson; a sister, Dorene Simpkins of Nashville; two brothers, Edward Gray Dickey of Cartersville, Georgia, and Jerry Max Dickey of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Bailey officiating. Interment followed in Kelso Cemetery.
Higgins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
