Survivors include his wife, the former Virna Mueller; two daughters, Mrs. Pula O'Neill; two sons, Gary and Kenneth Ashby; and two brothers, Shack and Beverly Ashby; a sister, Mabel Jaise; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Louisville or to the American Cancer Society.
