Died in the Soldier's Home at Grand Rapids-Remains Taken to Ashton for Burial
Comrade Don Henry Fuller died at the Soldier's Home in Grand Rapids, on Friday, Feb 18, 1910. His remains were taken to Ashton, Monday, where the funeral services were held in the afternoon, from the M E Church, Rev. Hinman officiating.
Comrade Fuller was born Jan. 10, 1840, in Hillsdale County. He came to Lincoln Township in Nov., 1869, and took up a government 160 near Deer Lake, in Pinora Township, Lake County. After a residence of four years there, he sold out and moved to Muskegon, where he resided two or three years, and then returned to Stowe's mill in Lake County, and moved to Deer Lake, where he resided for a number of years. He then went to Grand Rapids to reside after which he entered the Soldier's Home, where he died.
Comrade Fuller served all through the war of the rebellion, enlisting in Co C, 1st S S Sharpshooters, Co C, 1st S Sharpshooters, Sept. 8, 1862, at Hudson, Mich. for three years. He was wounded in action at Gettysburg, Pa July 2, 1861; was transferred to Co D 5th P S Infantry, Dec. 23, 1864, and was discharged at Philadelphia, Pa, May 18, 1865.
He is survived by a widow: three sons, Clark J, Harry W and Dock J of Grand rapids; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Drake and Mrs. Clinton Ash of Grand Rapids, Miss Cynthia Fuller of Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Edna Cole of Dighton. Also three brothers, Frank of Reed City; Charles of Cadillac; Stephen, of Bellaire and one sister, Mrs Hattie Campbell of Kendalls.
