Alice Blair was born April 21, 1921, in St. Charles and was a 1938 graduate of St. Charles High School. She continued her education at ISU, graduating in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She later received her master's degree in guidance counseling from Drake in 1962. Alice taught in Hartley for two years, in Cairo, Egypt, as a missionary at the American College for Girls from 1944–47, St. Charles High School, Atlantic and East High in Des Moines. She also was a guidance counselor at Indianola Junior High from 1962–83. In 1951, she was united in marriage to Fred Blair. Following retirement, Alice pursued her Shaklee business. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Blair of St. Charles; a stepdaughter, Carole Smith of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.
