Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 Pennsylvania Ave. North, with Reverend Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street N.E. Mason City. There will be one hour of viewing prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Enola Salome Skram was born May 27, 1916, in Bensen County, North Dakota, the daughter of Soren Jacob and Tilda Olena (Johnson) Skram. Enola attended elementary school in Lake Mills and graduated from Mason City High School in 1934. She graduated from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in 1939.
Enola was united in marriage to Merlin Douglas McMannes on July 27, 1939, in Blue Earth, MN.; to this union four children were born. Enola was a registered nurse for many years retiring in 1979, in Amarillo, Texas. Enola and Doug moved back to the Mason City area in 1982.
She enjoyed flowers, knitting, cooking, and oil painting. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. Enola was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Rake and Hoe Garden Club.
Enola is survived by her two sons, Douglas J. (Lynda) McMannes, Mason City, Rt. Reverend David G. McMannes, Sedona, AZ; grandchildren Jeremy (Kari) McMannes, Woodbury, MN, Jennifer (Joe) Groholski, Menasha, WI, Sean and Elizabeth McMannes, Sedona, AZ; great-grandchildren Austin and Connor McMannes, Woodbury, MN, and Christian Groholski, Menasha, WI; one sister Alva McGuire, Austin, TX; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Soren and Tilda Skram, husband M.D. McMannes, brothers Shirley and Joseph Skram, infant daughter Beverly McMannes, infant son Craig McMannes, and one grandson James Douglas McMannes in 1980.
