Frank Phillip Abernathy, 79, of Newalla, Oklahoma, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. He was born September 1, 1940 to Frank W. and Sue (Downer) Abernathy in Oklahoma City. Frank was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Cold War. He was proud to serve in Law Enforcement, and retired from the Oklahoma City Police Department in 1984. He then went on to work at the Federal Marshal’s office in Oklahoma City until his retirement in 2009. Frank had many interests and hobbies and enjoyed tinkering and piddling in all of them. He was well known for his sense of humor, and always enjoyed a good practical joke. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beverly Walliser. He was survived by his wife of 40 years, Lorene ‘Dale’ Abernathy; his children, Christian Murray, David Abernathy, Theresa and husband Todd Hopwood, Michele Williams, Ila and husband Kevin Owen, Phil and wife Amber Farris; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Frank also had a multitude of extended family and friends that were close to his heart. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, 28 October, at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma. Body was cremated at a later time.
