HICKORY - A. Leona Walker Teague, 81, of Twenty-second Street, NE, Hickory, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center after one year of declining health. Born Jan. 16, 1925, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of William and Mary Huffman Walker. A member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, she retired as a cone winder with Hickory Dyeing and Winding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Richard Teague, who died in July 1990; a son, Michael "Mickey" Teague; and seven brothers. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jeana and Mack Holman of Claremont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Ann Teague and Dale and Wanda Teague of Hickory; two sisters, Jenny Baker of Lincolnton and Annie Crump of Brookford; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. David Treadway at 11 a.m. Monday at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight, Sunday evening, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
