August Grannis Jr., 78, of Grampian and formerly of Osceola Mills, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at 7:21 p.m. at the home is his daughter, Pamela Grannis, of Grampian.

Mr. Grannis was of the Catholic faith.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Warn.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3450, Philipsburg.

Mr. Grannis was a retired house painter for Dennis Genot Contractors.

He graduated from the former Philipsburg High School, Class of 1946.

On July 23, 1955, he married Sarah (Lefort) Grannis in Morrisdale. She died Feb. 11, 1990.

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Marie Grannis of Grampian; two sons, August Eugene "Augie" Grannis Sr. and his wife, Wendy, of Osceola Mills and Timothy John Grannis and his wife, Tammy, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a sister, Doris Brennman of ALtoona; three brothers, John Grannis and his wife, Shirley, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Thomas Grannis of Las Vegas, Nev., and Edward Grannis and his wife, Lois, of Ramey; and eight grandchildren, Beth Ann Martin, August Eugene Grannis Jr., Matthew Daid Harvey, Shaylca Ann Grannis, Devon John Grannis, Destiny Grannis, Hunter Grannis and Shane Irwin; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eugene Michael Grannis; and a sister, Mary Lou Gates.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills, with the Very Rev. Gregory A. Kirsch as officiant.

Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Morrisdale.

Friends will be received Friday from noon until the hour of services at the funeral home.

Military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon alley Independent Honor Guard.
