Obituary for Helen Wells
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Helen Marie (Golick) Wells, passed away on October 17, 2019 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was 86 years old.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Richard Wells. They were married for 67 years and were longtime residents of Centerville, Iowa. Helen and Richard Wells owned and operated Richard’s Auto Sales and Service in Centerville for over 40 years.
Helen enjoyed being a homemaker and manager of the books for Richard’s Auto. She also enjoyed gardening and was proud of her beautiful flowers around her home. She adored birds and especially hummingbirds as we watched them daily from a feeder in front of their home. Her extensive library of recipes was adored at family gatherings. She participated in Croatian Days and completed and researched an extensive family history. She always had a smile for everyone and was the kindest person to all.
Helen is also survived by her son, Rick Wells and his wife, Karen of Rockwall, Texas; daughter, Susan (Wells) Anderson-Smith and her husband, Tim Smith of Ankeny, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Pam (Kluxdal) Wells of Centerville, Iowa and brother, Bob Golick and his wife, Janice of Exline, Iowa. We want to mention her best friend, Betty Owca and her favorite niece, Beverly Laurson and her husband, Dennis.
Grandchildren include: Justin, Trenton and Tonya Anderson, Jason and Travis Wells, Nicole (Wells) Cowan and Courtney (Wells) Wyrick. Helen also leaves behind her love for 10 great grandchildren.
She joins her son, Douglas Wells; her parents: Vince and Josephine (Buban) Golick; sister, Delores Sisul; brother, Bill Golick and many other relatives who love her dearly in Heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 11:00-12:00.
