Carolyn Ida Potts Cornett passed away on the 15th day of October 2019 at the age of 104.

Carolyn was born in Bladen, Nebraska on January 15, 1915, the 8th of eleven children. She graduated from Bladen High School and earned a teaching certificate from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. She was a wife, mother, worked in a family owned grocery store, and owned and operated the Malt Shop in Friendswood, Texas. She was a lifelong quilter, a member of the Friendswood Friends Church and member of the Deer Park First Baptist Church.

Carolyn is predeceased by her parents Robert A. and Ida Delehoy Potts, husbands Robert J. Dyar and Jesse M. Cornett, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Rogene Hallmark, son and daughter-in-law William and Sue Dyar. She is also lovingly remembered by 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Special thanks are given to Hospice nurse, Sandy, and those, who provided loving care and nursing for Carolyn. Also, a special prayer for the loving companionship and care provided by Terry Munselle and Charlene Jelenek. And last, but far from least, an eternal prayer for Carolyn's great-granddaughter, Carolyn -Rodriguez, for her continuous vigilance in assisting her grandmother, Rogene, in providing the best home care for her mother. We are so grateful to Kathleen who came to our house every Saturday to fix her hair so she would be ready to go to church on Sunday.

The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Deer Park First Baptist Church on Monday, October 21 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Jim Tucker officiating. Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday October 22, 2019at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Deer Park Funeral Home, 336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated and may be made to the charity of your choice.
