Herman Bill Britt, age 88, Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the VA Community Living Center. He lived most of his life in Unicoi County and was a son of the late Landon and Gladys Mae Isaacs Britt.

Herman was a United States Army Veteran. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Herman attended Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church and most recently St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church. He retired from Nuclear Fuel Services in 1993 after twenty-two years of service.

Herman enjoyed camping, fishing, going on cruises and listening to gospel music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Emily Britt in 2009; one brother, Ernest Britt; two sisters: Elnora Powers and Annabelle Stanley; step-father, Jesse Britt.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, David Britt, Unicoi; two daughters: Sandra Hetrick (Paul), Mentor, OH and Charlene Thomas (Ted), Unicoi; two brothers: Tom Britt (Debbie), Unicoi and Leroy Britt, Erwin; one sister, Sarah Allen White, Unicoi; four grandchildren: Cheryl Hetrick, Angie Hetrick, Shelley Kiser and Chad Kiser; two great grandchildren; special nieces, Phyllis Jones (Ronnie) and Tina Jones (Neal); special friends, Burl and Jean Mast; several other nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Father Tom Charters and Reverend Thurman Sullivan will officiate at the 8:00 P.M. funeral service. Committal will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday in the Britt Family Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M. on Sunday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hamm, Dr. Moughon, Community Living Center and Governor's Bend.
