Tony Mattingly, 80, formerly of Evansville was found dead this weekend in his hotel room in Los Angeles. A 1927 graduate of Memorial High School, he was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and a World War II veteran. After the war, his dance band played at The Blue Bar in the basement of Lincoln Hotel. He later traveled with his band on the Music Corporation of America circuit. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Evansville and William of West Warwick, RI; a daughter, Jill Mattingly of Summitville, IN; a sister, Mary C. Hess of Evansville; four brothers, Joseph F., Paul and William all of Evansville, and Eugene of Arlington, VA; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Arrangements are pending in Los Angeles.
