According to Minnesota Marriage Index, his first marriage was 11 June 1926 to Helen Margaret Abar(later Newell - Helen Margaret Abar was born on May 7, 1907, in Washington. She died on May 29, 1993, in Mound, Minnesota, at the age of 86.) in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. According to Montana Marriage Index, his second marriage was on 21 Jun 1934 to Dorothy Irene Dobay. She was a daughter of George and Martha Annis Dobay. They were married in Plentywood, Sheridan County, MT. Vern died 17 Mar 1942 in Cut Bank, MT.
