Funeral services for J. D. Stevens, 74, of Smithville, were held Thursday, June 16 at Love Cantrell Funeral Home. Brother Bobby Thompson officiated, and burial took place at Aaron Cantrell Cemetery.
He passed away June 13, 2005 at DeKalb Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Stevens and Mattie Hayes Stevens Russ; one brother Robert "Bill” Stevens; 1 grandson, Larry J. Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a retired nursery worker. He was a
Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Lula “Denise” Murphy Stevens; one son, Larry and his wife Rose Stevens of Smithville; two grandchildren, Sandra and husband Matthew Majors and Marty Stevens all of Smithville;
one brother, Leonard Russ of Deckard; two sisters; Pearl Wright and Ruth Walker both of Smithville; one sister- in-law, Alene Bandy of Smithville; one brother-in-law: L. D. Murphy of McMinnville; several nieces and
nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Gordon Rackley, Waymon Walker, Douglas Walker, Eddie Walker, Jerry Bandy, and Gary Bandy.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
