KIA - Operation Iraqi Freedom. Spec. Roberto Causor, Jr. joined the Army in August 2004 after graduating from William C. Overfelt High School. He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training in November 2004 and the Basic Airborne Course in December 2004 at Fort Benning, Georgia and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Spc. Roberto J. Causor Jr., 21, an automatic rifleman, was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol in Samarra, Iraq. "It is an honor and a privilege to have had the opportunity to serve alongside Spc. Roberto Causor," said Capt. Buddy Ferris, commander of C Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. "Spc. Causor epitomized the words courage, selfless service and honor; he was a paratrooper that represented all that is great about America."
Spec. Causor was awarded a Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist Badge.
Causor is survived by his father, Roberto Causor Sr., his mother, Maria Rocio Mejia, three sisters, Ruby, Yareli, Wendy and his girlfriend O'Lydia who is expecting their first child, a son. He was scheduled to be released from the Army in October.
