Anastasia Rishton (Gotchy) Holbrook
MARCH 29, 1933 ~ OCTOBER 12, 2019 (AGE 86)

Our sweet, loving, kind, game-playing, bike-riding, line-dancing, tap-dancing, cat-loving Anastasia Rishton Gotchy Holbrook is having the best celebration in Heaven following her passing on Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born March 29, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rex and Catherine Rishton Gotchy.

After graduating from college, she became a schoolteacher where she met E. Donald Holbrook who was also a schoolteacher.

They were sealed in the Manti Temple on July 18, 1955.

They made their home in Bountiful where they raised four children.

She worked as a schoolteacher for nine years, and as a day care teacher for 13 years with a few years off in between as a stay-at-home mom.

In 1984, a friend recruited her to work nights cleaning the Salt Lake Temple.

She later transferred to the Bountiful Temple and worked there until 2007.

Ann enjoyed playing games with children, especially her children and grand children.

She enjoyed indoor games with younger children and outdoor games as they got older.

In her later years she enjoyed jumping on the trampoline and dancing.

She participated in both tap dancing and line dancing, and taught line dancing into her late 70’s.

Cats played a significant part in her life.

She could spend hours reading or knitting with a cat on her lap.

If a cat was on her lap, it meant do not disturb.

She always enjoyed a good bike ride.

When her children were young, her escape would be riding her bike through the rural areas of Davis County.

In 2012 at the age of 79, she participated in the Antelope by Moonlight bike ride, a 22-mile ride starting at 10:00 pm from the Marina to the Garr Ranch on the Island and back.

Ann was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints magnifying every calling extended to her.

She served eight years as a Gospel Doctrine teacher.

She was a Relief Society teacher, a Relief Society secretary and was a dedicated visiting teacher.

However her favorite organization to serve in was the Primary, especially as a Sunbeam teacher.

She is survived by her children Kent (Mette) Holbrook, Midlothian, VA; Shauna (James) Walker, Santaquin, Utah;

Bret (Patrice) Holbrook, Bountiful, Utah;

and Nanette (John) Holmes, Yuma, AZ;

15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters Patyra Astin, Cathe Ray, and brother Rex Asel Gotchy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dwight Holbrook and sister Marcia Meister.

Funeral Services and viewing will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, Utah.

Viewing times will be Wednesday, October 16, 7-8:30 pm and Thursday, October 17 from 10-10:45 am.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

The family would like to add a special thanks to the staff and residence at Legacy House and Bristol Hospice for the care and friendship they provided to Anastasia during her last months of life.
