Find A Grave member #47446209 feels strongly that Maggie is his actual mother, who died in the November of his birth year when she was married to Jesse. Augusta is his stepmother. As additional proof, his marriage license names Maggie as his mother.
"Gurnal A. Jones Sr., 71, of 1504 Genesee St., died yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital after a six-day illness. He was born in Utica, Feb. 3, 1889, son of Jesse and Augusta Klug Jones. He married Harriet Schafer on April 12, 1911. He always had lived here and fro 20 years was employed by the Utica Knitting Co. as a dyer and bleacher. Later, he was employed as a heating engineer for 12 years by various local concerns. Mr. Jones was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Utica. Besides his wife, he leaves his mother in Washington Mills, two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Baker and Mrs. Doris Ritter, Utica; a son, Gurnal A. Jones Jr. of Utica; two sisters, Mrs. James Frear of New Hartford, Mrs. Ralph Jones of Utica; a brother, Emerson K. Jones of Washington Mills, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 Friday from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., the Rev. Ray Kiely of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery."
