Cuba City relatives received notice of the death in action in Germany on Dec. 18, of Pfc. Jerome Ripperda, who had spent 30 months in the service as a machine gunner. Among the survivors are his sisters, Mrs. Ray Houttaker (sic) and Mrs. Dominic Alt of Cuba City. Two brothers reside in East Dubuque.

His infantry division was commanded by General George Patton. He served on the front line and was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge, in France, 5 months before the end of the war in Europe.
He was a Purple Heart recipient
