Mary “Punk” Warnock Freeman, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Danville, GA, with services to follow at 2:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Phil Mills will officiate. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. “Punk” was a lifelong resident of Laurens County, and a longtime member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the choir.
She was the wife of Mr. Cleve Warnock of Montrose, GA, for 35 years until he passed away in 1993. Together they raised three children, Joan Warnock (Tom) Duncan, of St. Simons Island, GA, Glen (Paula) Warnock, of Montrose, GA, and Nan Warnock (Mark) Atkins, of Milton, GA. They were also blessed with 10 grandchildren; Hailey Duncan Jones (Adam), Keeli Duncan Merrill (Blake), Cannon Warnock (Katelin), Caleb Warnock (Mandy), Jordan Atkins Betz (Kyle), Rylie Duncan, Mark Atkins, III, Cuyler Warnock (Izzy), Cleve Warnock, and Baylor Duncan, and eight great-grandchildren with two on the way.
She has since been married to Mr. Ray Freeman of Dublin, GA for 23 years, and was step-mother of three children, Carolyn (Trinton) Pharis, Butch (Beth) Freeman, and Marilyn (Charles) Vaughan, along with seven grandchildren, and twenty great- grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Cleve, Mrs. “Punk” was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lucile Cannon; brother, Raymond “Bud” Cannon, and two sisters, Grace Pierce and Lal Merritt.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Trinity Christian School or Serenity Hospice, because of the importance each played in her life and in her care at the end of her days.
