Henry Clay Carr was a Veteran of the Civil War, 22nd Indiana Infantry, Company B. A gun shot wound to the lower left leg, in the Battle of Perryville, KY caused him to have his left leg amputated just below the knee. He went home wounded, not broken --- So, a family was started! There were 8 children, 5 boys and 3 girls.
