He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Leon, Peter and Anne (Boileau), and his daughters Mary and Anne. Along his path, he married Helen (Sekretarski) and became the beloved father to Vincent and Lilian, and “PapaShak” to Caleb, Dalton, Eliah and his nieces and nephews.
Originally from Wisconsin, Michael’s journey took him to Colorado for 30 years before moving to Arizona 3 years ago to be closer to his family.
Michael loved the outdoors, whether it was gardening and cultivating, or just watching the weather. Arizona weather amazed him, and gardening puzzled him, in his new found environment. He was a traveler of the world if not by airplane; it was through books and documentaries. Michael found interest in the simplest of details and cataloged much knowledge in his 82 years on this planet. As an old African Proverb says, “When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground.” As Michael would say, just don’t ask him to program the VCR.
