William "Bill" A. Trafton, 80, went to Heaven on the morning of July 6, 2007 leaving behind his devoted wife, Billie, of 60 years come October 12th, four lovely daughters, their husbands and children: Sandy (John) Grammer; Shirley (David) Richards, Shannon & Misty; Brenda (Roy) Huber, Jack William Huber, Kimberly (Brad)Huber-Newman; Austin Huber; Alva (friend David) Dominguez, Bobby Culp & Anthony Dominquez. Bill (as he was known by friends) was a minister of the Gospel, pastored Baptist Church's in Texas, Kansas, Arizona and New Mexico, over a period of 57 years. Bill got his education from University of Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi, Texas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas. Bill began working for Federal Civil Service at the age of l4 while in High School, worked for the Civil Service when pastoring small churches, and between pastoring, retiring in l984. Bill especially enjoyed the last 12 years as he work with the military as Education Counselor, then Education Services Officer. He then got his Real Estate Brokers License and had his own office in the home between l992-2003, when he moved to his "promised land" in the Mimbres area, Gila Forest, also pastoring small churches and supply preaching during those years. During the time he was getting his Real Estate Training Bill took Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer, but it didn't stop Bill. It was known of Bill that he always had two or three things going on at the same time as you might figure from above. He also spent some time in the U. S. Marine Corp after High School.
Bill & Billie lived in Las Cruces again from 2003 to 2005 then they moved to Tucson, Ariz., where Bill had to spend the last nearly two years in the Desert Life Nursing Home.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother, two sisters, and grandparents.
Visitation will be held at from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 in Baca's Peace Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 106 S. Miranda, with Reverend Steve Griffith, officiating. Concluding service and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Bill left a host of loved ones and friends behind when he left here for Heaven. Billie will be keeping her home in Tucson, Ariz. Sandy and John live in the outskirts.
In Lieu of flowers the family would suggest donations to Alzheimer's Association 1-800-272-3900.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. 527-2222.
