Bertha was a retired registered nurse, member of Grand Avenue Methodist Church, Harrison Powers Post of the American Legion, Faith Chapter of Eastern Star, White Shrine nurses. During World War I, she served as an Army lieutenant in the Nurse Corps. She spent most of her life in the McAlester area. She married Glen Mitchell in Denver, CO. Until her retirement, she worked at the old Albert Pike hospital and McAlester General West. She had a brother, Troy Pitts that lived in Canadian.
