Born in Berlin, Upper Canada (now Kitchener, Ontario), Susannah was a daughter of Michael Brandt and Elizabeth Kreuter. She married John Wideman on April 25, 1843. Shortly after their wedding, the couple lived in Wilmot Township, near Manheim, Ontario. Later, they moved to a farm in Woolwich Township, northwest of Saint Jacobs, Ontario.

The children of John and Susannah Wideman were:
- Christian (1844-1914)
- Menno (1845-1924)
- Elizabeth (1849-1925)
- Truman (1848-1922)
- Abraham (1851-1931)
- John (1852-1944), twin of Susannah
- Susannah (1852-1901)
- David (1853-1930)
- Barbara (1857-1930)

John Wideman died on November 24, 1856 at the age of 39 years, leaving Susannah with nine children, all under the age of 13 years.

The 1861 Census of Canada finds Susannah Wideman and her daughter, Barbara, residing with Joseph Kinzinger, a widow, and two of his six children, John and Richard. Susannah's other eight children lived with other couples (some with children of their own) in Woolwich Township.

On February 17, 1862, Susannah married Mr. Kinzinger. The couple had three children:
- Sarah (1864- 1872)
- Lydia (1865-1953)
- Martha (1867-1899)

The 1871 census shows that Joseph and Susannah Kinzinger resided in Woolwich Township. Members of their household included four children from Josephs' first marriage (Emily Caroline, Isabella, John), Susannah's daughter, Barbara, and the couple's three daughters listed above.

Susannah died in her 90th year on December 21, 1914, at Floradale, Ontario.
