Obituary. Bud Eugene Atwood, 76, passed away on September 27, 2019, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He is the husband of Rebecca (Becky) Atwood. They shared 47 years of marriage together and were sealed to one another and their family for all time and eternity in the Provo Utah Temple on June 13, 1979.

Bud was born on December 16, 1942 to Nephi and Hazel Atwood in Vernal, Utah. He attended Bonneville high school in Ogden, Utah where he excelled in athletics and lettered in track and field. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp shortly after graduation and served during the Vietnam war, advancing to the rank of Corporal, LCpl. In his time with the USMC, he was appointed Machine Gunner, Marksman Instructor and Sharpshooter Specialist.

He also served many years in the Utah Army National Guard Reserve as a Demolition Engineer where he advanced to the rank of Sergeant.

He was awarded numerous high honors and medals during his enlistment, among them, the National Defense Service Medal, Pistol Expert, and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. A true Patriot, he had a great love for our country and was proud of his time in the military.

Bud most enjoyed spending time outdoors and worked alongside his wife many summers at Mustang Ridge, near Flaming Gorge. He was a devoted family man with a generous and giving soul. He will be remembered for his strength and his compassionate nature.

He was an active member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints with a strong love for, and abiding testimony of his Savior.

He is survived by his loving wife and children, Bryan (Julie) Atwood, Shawn Atwood, Paul (Karen) Atwood, Robert Atwood, Heather Atwood (Craig Chisholm), Jennifer (Sterling) Downard, Tami (Garth) Henline, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brothers, Kenny Atwood, and Duane (Judy) Atwood, sister-in-law LeeEllen (Shirl) Atwood, and a multitude of friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Nephi and Hazel, and older brother, Shirl Atwood.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Maeser 3rd Ward (2575 North 1500 West, Vernal, Utah) with interment at the Dry Fork Cemetery, (Dry Fork Cemetery Road, Vernal, Utah), with Military Honors from the United States Marines and The Local American Legion.
