Mr. Thiel is survived by one son, Joseph (Jill) Thiel, Springfield, IL, and four daughters, Cyndy (Rev. Frank) Snyder, MI, Terri (Gary) Hite, Marion, Julie (Scott) Larese, AL, and Trish (Barry) Isenbarger, Delaware, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Katie Thiel, Betty Oney, and Minnie Allen. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Thiel, one brother, Richard Thiel, and one sister Margery Vaughn.
Mr. Thiel was member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He graduated from USHS with the class of 1950. He was a farmer and also sold seed for Northrup King Seed Co. Mr. Thiel was a member of the Knights of Columbus and played on their fast pitch softball team. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tues. April 18, 2017 at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky with Father Nicholas Weibl officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held at Bringman Clark Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Mon. April 17, 2017 with a Catholic Prayer Service at 6:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic School or Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 East Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
