Served in WWI as an A2, 1917-18. Enlisted March 28, 1918, at Camp Dodge. In the 163rd Depot Brigade, 4th R. O. T. C, at Camp Dodge. Commissioned Second Lieutenant, Inf. on Aug. 26, 1918, and assigned to the 809th Pioneer Infantry. Embarked for France September 13, 1918. After the armistice was engaged in embarkation services at St. Nazaire, France, till July 30, 1919, at Camp Dodge as First Lieutenant, O. R. C.
He spent Armistice Day in the village of Savenay where there was a large hospital for disabled American soldiers.

He was the County Superintendent of Schools for McIntosh county, ND 1915-1916.
He was a licensed undertaker in several states.

He passed away at his sister's home in Michigan. He is buried in ND.
