Mrs. Appless Walton Matthews Hubbard, 92, of Brevard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

She was born in Jackson County, North Carolina, to Walter Matthews and Ella Mae Owen Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elmo Matthews and sisters Hazel Middliton, Wilma Moore, Glen Allender, Elouise McCall, Gazella Pierson, and Opal Green.

Appless was married for 69 years to her husband (Thomas) Harold Hubbard. In those sixty-nine years, they were always together. She always tried to care for anyone who came to their home. She loved doing crossword puzzles, traveling, and meeting new people. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and gardening.

Appless was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children Sharon (Roger) Petit of Brevard and Ricky (Cindy) Hubbard of Brevard and grandchildren Zack Hubbard and Whitney (Curtis) Lorenz. Also surviving Appless is her sister Wanda Owen of Brevard and numerous nephews and nieces.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2019 at Big Hill Cemetery.
