Obituary of Kinzy Grayer:

Kinzy "Ken" Grayer, age 74, passed away at his residence in the Seminole, Fla., subdivision of Niceville, Fla., on Aug. 1, 2000.
He was born in Independence, Mo., to the late Kinzy and Darcy Grayer. During his military career, Mr. Grayer served in three RED HORSE units - the 820th RHS, Tuy Hoa Vietnam; the 557th RHS, Osan, Korea and the 557th Eglin Auxiliary Field No. 2. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. Prior to entering the Air Force he was in the Merchant Marines during the World War II era. At the time of his death he was employed at the Coyote Landfill near Portland Fla.
Mr. Grayer was a model plane enthusiast and an avid fisherman, often escaping to a nearby fishing hole with his best friends, Kenneth Messimer and Ottis Kelly. Other interests included RVing with his friends, Ed and Mary Elliott. He was Co-founder of the former Seminole Fire Department, which is now North Bay Fire Department, located in Bluewater Bay, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lil; sons, Michael and companion Donna of Navarre, Fla., Stephen and wife Nina of San Diego, and Timothy and companion Kristina of Niceville; daughters, Darcy Keilholz and husband James of Little Rock, Ark., and Angela Brahmstdt and husband Douglas of Choctaw Beach, Fla. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Douglas Kielholz, Nick Kielholz, Tina Grayer, Alicia Grayer, Brett Grayer, Britney Brahmstedt, Douglas Brahmstedt Jr. and Timothy Grayer Jr.; step-grandchildren, Brandy Jimenez, Nicki Jimenez, Cody Spears and Michael Joe Spears; sisters, Darcy Temple and Mary Huffman of Indep., Mo., Betty Rice of Okla. City, Ok., Martha Parker of Clinton, Mo., and Virginia Pate of Indep. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Hightower, who passed away on March 3, 2000.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the funeral home with Pastor Lev Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida; or to the American Diabetes Association.
