Melva “Jean” Holsapple, 81, of Odin passed away peacefully at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
She was born on December 2, 1937 the daughter of John Rufus and Mittie (Smith) Andrews in Wing, Alabama.
She married her sweetheart, Pete Holsapple on November 17, 1953 in Meridian, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2016.
Survivors that hold treasured memories of Jean include her daughter, Paula and husband Dwight of Odin; sons T Holsapple of Odin, and P Holsapple and wife D of Odin; precious grandchildren; 5 cherished great-grandchildren; sister, Marylou of Lynn Haven, FL.
Along with her husband of 63 years, Pete Holsapple, Jean was preceded in death by both her parents John and Mittie Andrews; and a brother, John Thomas Andrews.
Jean loved traveling throughout the country, finding the perfect camping spot, and fishing for crappie. She enjoyed specifically Mississippi sweet potatoes and would have her son bring them home to her when he traveled through the state. Jean passed the time searching for words in circle word puzzle. She treasured her dog Daisy and the time she spent with her.
A celebration of life service will be held at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery.
