George Clinton Cannon, 78, passed away on Friday, January 12, 1940, in his home in Rapatee, Illinois. He was born in Columbus, Illinois, on June 28, 1861, the son of Lydia Ann (McNeall) and Clinton Burdette Cannon.

George was a retired telegrapher and station agent, of the M & St. L. Railway

He was a member of the Rapatee, IL, Church.

George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Catherine "Kate" (Murphy) Cannon, formerly from Missouri; three daughters, Mary Ann Davis (husband, Reuben), Elizabeth Schultz Hoxworth (husband, Lee), and Ruth Eleanor Harter (husband, Clarence); and two sons, Tyrone Murphy Cannon and Carl C Cannon; and one brother, Calvin B Cannon.
