John D Leland was the 4th child of Rev John Leland and Sarah Devine.
John D, the eldest son remained in Cheshire for several years after his marriage.. He was a representative in the General Court of Mass. from that town in the year 1813. He afterwards removed to Deerfield, Oneida Co., New York, and was for a considerable number of years clerk of the courts for that county. and he is now (1849) an opulent farmer and trader in the town of Deerfield.
