Ruth Clemens, age 97 of Jeannette, died Monday, January 28, 2002, at Westmoreland Manor.

Born November 27, 1904, in Penn Township, a daughter of William Sherman and Sarah Reeger Loughner.

She was a member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church of Jeannette, where she taught Sunday school for over thirty years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jeannette Fire Department, the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the former Jeannette Republican Women's Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. Clemens; and nine siblings, Edna Hissem, Susan Weisbecker, Hazel Frye, William McKinley Loughner, Charles Loughner Sr., Sara Earhart, Laura Loughner, Lawrence Loughner and Ralph Loughner.

She is survived by a daughter, Gladys Marie Panichella and her husband, Michael, of Greensburg; a son, Wayne L. Clemens and his wife, Suzanne, of Greensburg; eight grandchildren, Deborah Herr, Michael Panichella, Jeffrey W. Clemens, Janis P. Novosel, Timothy L. Clemens, Teri P. Kepchia, Dianna C. Heim and Scott A. Clemens; eleven great-grandchildren, Johannah Herr, Megan Panichella, Kristin Panichella, Luke Novosel, Rachael Clemens, Erik Wegner Clemens, Breanna Novosel, Ariana Heim, Kira Wegner Clemens, Kayla Novosel and Colyn Heim; a sister, Lila Klingensmith of Penn Township; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will be received Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Inc., 201 N. First Street in Jeannette, where service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Theodore H. Erickson officiating.

Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park at Delmont.
