Hazel was born and raised in the Arkansas Delta, but soon after graduating from Shawnee High School, made her way to Hollywood, CA. There she became a model with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and eventually began working in wardrobe for Warner Bros. Studio. She worked on numerous big movies such as Around the World in 80 Days and When Time Ran Out... she also enjoyed working on television productions such as Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, The Monroes and Lost in Space. Hazel loved her work and even, after retiring, remained in Hollywood. Other starlets in her paternal grandmother's family include cousins Adrienne Ames, Linda Marsh and Lynn Merrick.
