Adell, called "Belle," was born in Wisconsin. She married Courtney Walker Meek of Oregon on September 24, 1878. They had at least four children between 1838 and 1893: Josephine, George, Lenora and Clella Meek, all born in Oregon (probably at the Meek family farm north of present day Hillsboro, Oregon). They moved to land on the Nez Perce Tribal land near Fletcher, Idaho in 1895. Her husband and two youngest children, Josephine and George, preceded her in death. She continued to run the family farm and tribal allotment land in Idaho afterward.

"Mrs. Meek has shown remarkable fortitude and business skill since the death of her husband. She has conducted the business, has improved the land, erected good buildings, has a large barn, a fine eight room house and is one of the enterprising residents of the region." From "An Illustrated History of North Idaho Embracing Nez Perces, Idaho, Latah, Kootenai and Shoshone Counties, State of Idaho." Published by Western Historical Pub. Co. 1903
